Math Friday the students took their fraction assessment. Next week we will begin working on decimals. In this unit students will be converting between decimals and fractions, adding and subtracting decimals, and comparing decimals. Reading Students continue to have the expectation to read three hours outside of school each week. Weekly reading logs are due each Tuesday. They will work in a group to share warning signs of their natural disaster, examples from history, and ways to be prepared. Math At the end of next week we will have a mid unit assessment to see how well we are understanding multiplication. We have worked up to two by two digit and four by one digit multiplication. Students learned how to use partial products and the standard algorithm to solve problems. They've also learned how to model the multiplication with place value charts and area models. Idiom of the week : hold your horses Inquiry Next week in our How We Express Ourselves unit we will begin our inquiry into ways innovation expresses creativity. Students will learn some basic computer coding. This will prepare them for our 4th Grade Innovation Fair that will take place at the end of the unit. Reading Last week was not our best reading log completion week. Please check in with your student and make sure they are reading and recording the expected three hours outside of school each week. Another way you can help your student progress as a reader is to have them tell you what their current reading goal is. They should know.
