The Week Ahead 6/1-6/5

Hopefully your student told you all about our field trip to the State Capitol Building in Salem last week. Make sure to take a look at the previous blog post for pictures from the trip. Thanks again to all of the chaperones that volunteered their time to make the trip possible! Next week in math we will be finishing Module 7. It looks like we should be taking the End of Module Assessment on Wednesday. On Tuesday students will take a practice test that covers all of the material from the module. You can help your child prepare for their test by going over their practice test with them on Tuesday evening. Expect your student to bring home their scored test on Thursday. Each child will be coming home today with their final multiplication fact fluency test. In red ink you will see the number of correct problems they answered in 4 minutes. In black ink you will see the number of problems they correctly answered on this same test during the first week of school. The students should be pr

The Week Ahead 5/26-5/29

There will be no school on Monday, 5/25 in observance of Memorial Day. During these last three weeks of school there will be a lot going on! We have plenty of curriculum to cover, a field trip, and end of the year assessments to measure student growth. In an effort to keep some sanity I will not be assigning reading logs and spelling packets again this year. Students will still be expected to complete their math assignment each day. Our class field trip to the Capitol Building in Salem will be on Wednesday, 5/27! We will be leaving the school at 9:15 and returning at 1:30. If you will be joining us as a chaperone, please arrive at the school by 8:45. This will give us a chance to organize groups and go over expectations. Based on the returned permission slips, it appears that no students have ordered a school lunch for the day of the trip. The math extension activity books have been graded. Students will be coming home with them on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I spilt some tea on a la

The Week Ahead 5/4-5/8

I was looking through my plan book today and realized that we only have six weeks left in this school year! This group of students has been such a joy to work with each day, I'm going to have to make sure to enjoy our last six weeks together. On Monday students will be assigned reading logs and instead of a spelling packet they will be given a math extension activity. The reading log will be due the following Monday, 5/11. The math extension activity will be due on Monday, May 18th. The students had a blast meeting Mark at his first artist visit last Thursday. They were disappointed to hear they wouldn't get to see him again until next Monday. In addition to Monday, Mark will be joining the class on Tuesday and Wednesday, teaching the students about collage. In math we will be finishing module 6 this week. On Monday we will cover the final lesson. Tuesday will be a review day and Wednesday will be the test day. Expect your child to bring their scored test home late in the
